Tutu worn by Elizabeth Anderton as the female Blue Bird in Act III of The Royal Ballet Touring Company production of 'The Sleeping Beauty' (1959)

Description: Tutu with a blue tafetta bodice that has a centre front infill panel of pale pink elastic that extends to the waist. There are blue velvet feather shapes appliquéd over the bust and down to the waist, and smaller blue velvet feather shapes extending up the elastic shoulder straps. Two blue velvet wing shapes are appliquéd to the back of the bodice. On the bodice and basque there is hand-painted decoration in white and blue, and blue opalescent feather-shaped sequins. The basque is of blue and purple taffeta and is appliquéd with blue velvet feather shapes that extend over the skirt. The skirt is layers of purple and blue nylon net with scalloped edges. The top layer is decorated with blue opalescent feather-shaped sequins. There are elastic shoulder straps, an elastic strap in the gusset, and a hoop in the skirt.

Condition: Good.The foam bust pads have solidified. Bodice decoration has been altered and the sewing marks are visible. Dusty. The skirt edges are crushed; some tears in the net.
