Head and wings for the character Cockerel in The Royal Ballet production of 'La Fille mal gardée' (1960)

Description: Buckram cockerel's head overlaid with cream and pale orange satin with hand-painted eye details and decorated with cream and yellow feathers. The comb and craw are red felt and the beak is yellow felt. Where the head attaches to the wings is a collar of pale orange satin with the edges cut into feather shapes and decorated with a feather pattern in black pen and with pink and black feathers. The wings are foam overlaid with layers of orange and terracotta satin and dark green tafetta. The edges of each layer have been cut into feather shapes and further decorated with black pen and white hand-painted highlights. The top of the wings are decorated with orange feathers. Worn with body and legs ROH/PRO/COS/0003881 and tights ROH/PRO/COS/0005653.
