Tunic worn by Mikhail Baryshnikov as Romeo in Act I scene 1 and Act II of The Royal Ballet production of 'Romeo and Juliet' (1965)

Description: Dark cream brocade tunic with a V neckline. The collar and centre front are edged in yellow, black, blue, white and pink satin ribbon, with yellow and gold ribbon extending around the hem. There is an infill of pleated cotton trimmed at the neckline with two rows of pink ribbon. The jacket fastens with toggle ties of pink, blue and black cord. The sleeves consist of two bands of gathered cream nylon alternating with two bands of blue and cream brocade. Pink satin ribbon is laced over the cream nylon bands and fastened through brass eyelets on the brocade bands. The sleeves have white nylon cuffs. The jacket has a short peplum pleated at the centre back.
