Scope and content: Three-quarter-length portrait of Melba in a period dress and pearl headdress, standing by a small table. Melba has signed in black ink at the top of the image. Lady de Grey's label, which runs under two photographs, reads: 'Melba in 'Lucia', no one can ever have sung the mad scene so wonderfully'. The photograph was originally in album volume 2, page 6 (top right).
