Kenneth MacMillan, Principal Choreographer of The Royal Ballet

When: September 2009-February 2010
Where: Cloakroom Corridor, Paul Hamlyn Hall and Amphitheatre Gallery
Kenneth MacMillan would have been 80 on 11 December 2009, and his extraordinary legacy is celebrated in this exhibition, which brings together a range of material held by Royal Opera House Collections. This includes a costume worn by MacMillan as a young dancer, costumes and headdresses from a selection of his ballets and photographs showing the choreographer at work in the rehearsal studio. On display in the Amphitheatre Gallery are designs for MacMillan ballets from both the Yolanda Sonnabend and the Ian Spurling Design Collections.
