Covent Garden: The Third Theatre 1858-1900

Accompanying the spotlight exhibition, Reading The Riot Act, this 15-minute film tells the story of how the Second Covent Garden Theatre came to burn down on 5 March 1856 and how the present theatre arose from the ashes, opening on 15 May 1858. The film was commissioned by Royal Opera House Collections from independent filmmaker Lynne Wake.
