Important Notice: Closed in August and September

Royal Opera House Collections are closed throughout August and September for our annual conservation check. The department will reopen to researchers and for enquiries in October.

Enquiries

For all enquiries, please contact us by post, email, or telephone. We are open for enquiries Tuesday–Thursday. Please leave a message on the answer phone at any other time.

Research Visits

The Collections are open to external researchers by appointment 10.30–13.00 and 14.30–17.30 on Tuesday–Thursday each week. Due to limitations of space, however, researchers must be engaged in a specific research project and must register with us prior to visiting.

To register, all researchers must:

  • contact us to discuss your research so that we can advise on availability of material and appointments
  • complete the Researcher Application Form and agree to abide by the Regulations of the ROH Collections – this will be sent to you by post or email
  • provide a letter of academic or professional reference, on institutional headed paper confirming your research interest
  • present photographic identification upon arrival – acceptable ID includes passport or driving licence. Reader’s tickets issued by The British Library or The National Archives are not acceptable

The Royal Opera House Collections welcomes gifts, bequests and loans of material relating to the Royal Opera House and its resident companies to enhance its holdings. If you have material that might be of interest please contact us.
